Wemyss Bay

  • Shore Shack Café: A 5-minute walk from the train station. A fun seaside café with a​ large selection of meals and snacks. Perfect for after a trip to the beach.

  • Macari’s Fish and Chips: The best fish and chips in Wemyss Bay. ​ Value for money and friendly staff, located opposite Wemyss Bay train station. ​

  • Train station: Award winning train station, noted to be one of the most beautiful train​ stations in the UK.​

  • Wemyss Bay Beach: A 15 minute​ walk form the caravan site, with​ the COOP nearby this beach ​makes for a great​ trip to get the​ kids outside!

Wemyss Bay is located near some scenic walking trails which are another great way to get the kids outside.

Isle of Bute

Transport: Two-hour ferry journey from Wemyss Bay Ferry Terminal to Rothesay Ferry Terminal via CalMac ferries: https://www.calmac.co.uk/​

  • WIFI: Yes, CalMac ferries do have WIFI.  ​

Gourock Promenade

Location: Gourock, PA19 1NN.​

  • Transport: 15-minute drive from the caravan park 25-minute bus ride from the caravan park via the 901 Clydeflyer. Get on at Wemyss Bay Station and get off at Hillside Road, Gourock.  ​

  • Facilities : Albert Road public toilets, some cafés  ​

  • Wheelchair access: Yes  ​

  •  Autism Friendly: Yes 

Elev8 Trampoline Park

An all-inclusive Trampoline and inflatable park. Great for young children.  ​

  • Location: Greenock ​

  • Transport: 15-minutes by car. There is onsite parking.   35-minute bus journey via the Clydeflyer 901. Get on at Wemyss Bay station and get off at Octavia Terrace. ​

  • Facilities: Toilets (including a disability friendly toilet). There is a café, on the 1st floor. Staff will bring food to those who cannot get up the stairs. ​

  • Wheelchair access:  Yes (but not to the café upstairs)​

  • WIFI: Yes ​

  • Autism Friendly: Yes ​

Waterfront leisure complex

An indoor leisure and activity center perfect for keeping the kids entertained on a rainy day! ​

  • Transport: 18 minutes by car from the caravan park.  43 minutes via bus. Get the Clydeflyer 906 and get off at Dalrymple Street. Walk 5 minutes to the Waterfront Leisure Complex. ​

  • Facilities: Ice skating, swimming pool, leisure pool, flumes and a  café. ​

  • Wheelchair access: Yes  ​

  • WIFI: No​

  • Autism Friendly: They unfortunately do not offer designated autism friendly sessions however they are accommodating and are provide a fun atmosphere for young people.   ​

Largs

A traditional holiday resort town with a Victorian promenade and a range of ice cream vendors and shops​

Beacon Arts Centre

  •   Need to Book? Not for exhibitions but you do need to book if you are going to a show. ​

  •   Discounts available? Access to the exhibitions is free! ​

Gourock Outdoor Pool

An open air, heated swimming pool located on the Gourock promenade. It is the oldest outdoor pool in Scotland, providing spectacular views of the Clyde estuary​

  • Location: Gourock ​

  • Transport:  Free parking, a 15-minute car ride from the caravan site. A 25-minute bus ride on the Clydeflyer 901 from Wemyss Bay station. Get off at Albert Road (Gourock) and walk for one minute towards the promenade to the outdoor pool ​

  • Facilities: Toilets​

  • Wheelchair access: Yes  ​

  • WIFI: No​

  • Autism Friendly: They do not have any designated autism friendly sessions, but they do provide a fun and friendly environment for young people. ​

  • Need to Book? No- but they are not open until 5th May 2022 (subject to change).​

  • Discounts available? No. Adults go £4, kids go £3.40 ​

Waterfront Cinema

Family ran Cinema that has been providing affordable, high quality cinema experiences since 1996.  ​

Location: Greenock​

Transport: 16 minutes by car from the holiday park.  ​

35-minute bus ride on the 901 Clydeflyer from Wemyss Bay Station. Get off at Ocean Terminal and walk for 10 minutes to the cinema. ​

Facilities : Toilets, food and drink. ​

Wheelchair access: Yes ​

WIFI: No ​

Autism Friendly: Yes! Saturday morning at 11am or 11:30am and Tuesday mornings during the school holidays at 10am and 10:30am. ​
